The leaf's natural form is beautifully expressed through its flowing veins and smooth contours. Rather than relying on elaborate ornamentation, the carving allows the jadeite itself to take centre stage—highlighting its colour, translucency, lustre, and natural character. Historically, the phrase was associated with nobility and descendants of distinguished families. Over time, 玉叶 yù yè (jade leaf) came to represent someone precious, refined, and worthy of being cherished. It is also represent success in one's career with the chinese wordplay 事业有成 shì yè yǒu chéng. Texture of the leaf is very icy and fine with high translucency. No unwanted cottons can be seen from the piece.
